Bridging the gap between manufacturers tested systems & practical site solutions.
Ignite Fire Compliance Ltd specialises in comprehensive compatibility studies, assessing the interchangeability of proposed fire-resistant walls and floors.
Our evaluations ensure that service installation certification remains intact while offering greater scope and flexibility.
Through a rigorous review process, we assure compliance with fire safety standards, providing reliable solutions for your construction projects.
Should the proposed wall or floor systems on your project differ in any way from the specimen tested by the service installation manufacturer (e.g., fire damper)—such as using Type D plasterboard instead of Type F (EN 520) then we are here to assist.
If you're facing design challenges please don’t hesitate to reach out to arrange a consultation.

Our Commitment to Your Project
Ignite Fire Compliance focus on the compatibility between fire-resisting service installations and the substrates into which they are installed, specialising in reviews between:
Fire-resisting dampers (EN 1366-2)
and proposed fire-resisting substrates (wall / floor)
Smoke control dampers (EN 1366-10)
and proposed fire-resisting substrates (wall / floor)
Fire-resisting ductwork (EN 1366-1)
and proposed fire-resisting substrates (wall / floor)
Smoke control ductwork (EN 1366-8)
and proposed fire-resisting substrates (wall / floor)
Smoke control dampers (EN 1366-10)
and Smoke Control Ductwork (EN 1366-8/9)
i.e. on/in-duct applications away from the compartment
Predominantly working with the Field of Direct Application within the respective standards which permits the interchangeability of wall types, however, this depends on the substrates tested by the service installation manufacturer and the underpinning EN test evidence for the proposed wall system.
A holistic review of both sets of data by a suitably competent person is essential.
If all of the required criteria is satisfied then the certification of the service installation (i.e. fire damper) will be maintained as per the manufacturers Declaration of Performance even when installed within a wall system which deviates from the tested specimen.
This service is available for all products and product manufacturers and is conducted on an impartial basis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Explore our most common queries and learn more about our services.
Can Ignite Fire Compliance provide compatibility reviews for different plasterboard types than tested by the fire damper manufacturer (i.e. Type D EN520 acoustic plasterboard)?
At Ignite, we approach fire safety with a systems-based mindset. In many cases, it is possible to approve alternative wall systems that vary in covering board type. However, this approval is contingent upon a thorough review of the wall system’s proven fire resistance and the test evidence published by the installation service manufacturer—such as for fire-resisting dampers or ductwork. This ensures that any deviations still meet the necessary requirements.
Can Ignite Fire Compliance conduct compatibility reviews on BS476 tested wall systems?
Our review process focuses on ensuring that any service penetration passing through a fire-resisting wall system maintains the manufacturer’s declared fire classification. To achieve this, the base wall system must be tested in accordance with the relevant EN standards—such as EN 1364-1 for fire resistance testing—and assigned a classification under the appropriate standard, such as EN 13501-2.
In cases where alternative solutions are being considered, we recommend an initial consultation to assess the available options and ensure compliance with fire safety requirements.
Can Ignite Fire Compliance assist with product selections?
It is important to note that our scope is limited to validating the specified wall system when used in conjunction with the selected service installation.
